ASICS becomes sport training partner for the JCP Swansea Half Marathon

Organisers of the JCP Swansea Half Marathon have announced that True Sports Performance brand ASICS has come on board as the Official Sports Training Partner for 2016.

ASICS will support the race and runners with useful tools like the MY ASICS on-line training programme, where runners find a whole host of expertise, advice and specific training plans. MY ASICS is an online tool that helps runners achieve their running goal, allowing them to set up an individual training plan for popular running distances. In addition to the individual planning, runners can also log their runs, find useful information and communicate and share their progress with other runners via the MY ASICS Website and Mobile app. Further details can be found online at http://my.asics.co.uk . ASICS will be present at the race village during the half marathon with their performance trailer where runners can have their gait analysis done by the qualified ASICS tech team free of charge, be given recommendations on ASICS products to suit their running style needs, and receive tips and advise on any running related issues. ASICS will also promote the JCP Swansea Half Marathon through its channels, attracting a wider audience to take part in the race.

The flat fast course is perfect for beginners, first time half marathon runners and charity runners, whilst also attracting a large elite field from Wales and beyond to #RunSwansea.

Starting and finishing in the city centre, the route takes runners along Swansea Bay to The Mumbles and back, featuring six miles of stunning coastline, beautiful views and fantastic crowd support. A total of 8,000 public and charity places are available for 2016.

Entries are open and public places cost £33 for affiliated athletes and £35 for non-affiliated runners, which includes a fully marshaled course on closed roads, medal, technical t-shirt, on route entertainment, post race massage and goody bag for all finishers.

Discounted race entry to Passport to Leisure card holders

The organisers of the JCP Swansea Half Marathon have announced that they are offering all Passport to Leisure card holders discounted entry to the 2016 race in order to make the event more accessible to a wider range of the community and to encourage card holders to sign up for the fitness challenge next June.

The JCP Swansea Half Marathon is amongst only a handful of races in the UK to offer this discount, which highlights the organisers’ passion for the sport and the desire for their event to be inclusive. Running is an easy and affordable option to be active, and registering for a race is the perfect way to ensure focus and motivation in training in the months leading up to the race.

Residents within the City and County of Swansea boundaries who hold a Passport to Leisure are entitled to a third off the public entry fee, bringing the entry fee down to £23. The entry fee includes a medal, technical t-shirt, on route entertainment, post race massage and goody bag for all finishers and will also give the entrants access to HMT Sancta Maria training seminars.

Passport to Leisure members must email [email protected] to make an appointment at the organisers’ office in Swansea and they must bring their Passport to Leisure and a valid photo ID in order to secure their entry. The Passport to Leisure must be valid on race day (26th June 2016) and there is one entry per Passport to Leisure card holder.

 

Prize Fund

The JCP Swansea Half Marathon organisers are excited to announce the prize fund for the 2016 event to be held on Sunday June 26th 2016.

In line with the 2015 race, both the male and female winners of the event will scoop £1000 with £500 and £250 up for grabs for the 2nd and 3rd place athletes, these prizes will be available to all British athletes.

The added bonus for the elite field will be the £1500 prize that will be won if the course record is broken. Great Britain athlete and Swansea Harrier, Dewi Griffiths holds the male record in a time of 1.06.48 and Lliswery Runner Emma Wookey holds the female course record of 1.17.51.

Technical Director Nick Francis said ‘After such a high standard of running at this year’s event we envisage that the JCP Swansea Half Marathon will attract an even better calibre of athlete to race around the streets of Swansea in 2016. Swansea Half Marathon’s ethos is to bring the best event possible to the city, and that means insuring the elite runners at the front of the field have the incentive to come and test themselves on our wonderfully scenic course. We feel that not only with the prize money in place for the top 3 competitors but the added bonus of a huge prize for the course record we will have some of the best athletes from across the UK.’

As well as the prizes for the elites, there will be prizes for each winner of the vets categories and a variety of spot prizes given out on race day.
